Etienne Pixa

Étienne Pixa, born in 1971 in Strasbourg, France, is a French-German artist based in Berlin. His multidisciplinary practice spans photography, graphic design, and painting. Beginning in his adolescence, he developed a passion for analog photography, mastering black-and-white film processing and darkroom printing. After high school, he attended art school, specializing in advertising graphic design. Since the early 2000s, he has worked professionally as a graphic designer and web designer. As a self-taught painter, Pixa experimented with acrylic and oil before refining his skills through formal painting courses with Suzanne Obrecht in France (2003–2004) and Frank Pieperhoff in Berlin (2009–2010). Alongside traditional media, he explored digital photography and video, and since 2021, he has incorporated digital painting on iPad into his practice. His work, characterized by a dynamic blend of abstraction and figuration inspired by abstract expressionism, reflects vibrant energy and a deep connection to nature and everyday life. Pixa has exhibited extensively in France and Germany, with pieces held in private collections across Europe.
