At auction: three beautiful and unusual ex-votos. Metal, mid-1800s. We are talking about three votive objects commissioned by believers who asked for a grace from their saint. In this case, it is inferred that the illness had struck a man and a woman. The third is a Sacred Heart,

Ex voto, infant in swaddling clothes. Excellent condition and beautiful workmanship.

This lot comprises 6 votive ex-votos in the shape of a Flaming Heart, a typical devotional manufacture from central and southern Italy (especially widespread between the late 19th century and early 20th century).

Largest size: height 34 cm x width 23 cm.

An ex voto or grace received from the mid-19th century, painted in tempera on papier-mâché. It is (see subject) an offering made by a family to Saint Francis for intercession on their request. A typical object of Italian popular religiosity, where the faithful, after a presumed

 Ex voto - Wood and papier-mâché - 1800-1850 - Grace received. 

A beautiful painting for Grazia Avuta. The painting shows exactly what happened (a vessel on fire) and who is believed to have been the agent of the miracle (the Madonna and Child). Dated 1917, it undoubtedly comes from a seaside location, presumably southern Italy. Dimensions:

The object is preserved inside its splendid contemporaneous oval frame in gilded metal or burnished brass, complete with the superb original convex glass
