Fabulous wedding fan, ca 1875.
Monture perfectly carved and pierced mother of pearl. This kind of material is called Gold fish mother of pearl and is only found in the waters around Japan.
The pierced center is backed with burgo, a very thin kind of mother of pearl.

Antique French fan in Louis XV style. In silk, mother-of-pearl, silver, and gold leaf. Dated 1850–1870. It preserves its original case, made of white silk and velvet.

Very rare fan in the Sultane style, circa 1860. 
Normally the ribs are at the bottom of the leaf, but with the Sultane model the ribs are part of the mount. 
The mount, carved and sawn from bone, in excellent condition.

The silk leaf  very unusually embellished with ribbons of lace on every fold.
Some sticks are detached from the spines.
