ABOUT THE TECHNIQUE Oil on grisaille from black and white photography on canvas. Unique and unrepeatable piece. The Grisaille and Glazing technique is used, a traditional painting method used by the old masters. An all black and white photograph is used, creating a base known as grisaille. The fabric is previously prepared with a transparent resin with a spatula that gives it a very catarceristic texture. On it will begin the magical moment of applying transparent oil glazes, layer by layer, achieving a very special chromatic quality and a vibrant interaction of colors, a sensation of volume, texture and depth. At the end, thick brush strokes of impasto paint are used, which emphasizes the texture and gives it a more pictorial appearance. THE STORY BEHIND Image of Rome, Italy. These city views are the magical result of extensive research and work, both intellectual and manual. Recognizable urban landscape but totally transformed through light, color, and nature. ABOUT THE ARTIST Born in Madrid, he studied photography, cinematography and video in various cities and schools, as well as drawing and painting at the Arts Students League in New York, the Soto Mesa school in Madrid and the Arauco Foundation in Madrid. A professional photographer, since 1981 he has collaborated with prestigious advertising agencies and the best national fashion and general interest magazines. His work has been exhibited through the Spanish Association of Fashion and Advertising Photographers at the Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art (Madrid, 1985-1993), the Concha Márquez Foundation (Madrid, 1997), the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zulía (Maracaibo, Venezuela, 2000) and the Sala Carreño (Madrid, 2001). Since then, he has exhibited in prestigious art galleries in Spain, the United States, Belgium, Venezuela, among others. His works are part of private collections in a dozen countries.
