This work is a sculptural wall piece that exists between relief sculpture and mixed-media painting. The central element is formed from chamotte ceramic, a material known for its strength, tactile surface, and expressive potential. The ceramic relief is combined with layered acrylic textures and pigments applied on a solid wooden panel, creating a composition rich in depth, material contrast, and subtle tonal transitions.
The title Unyielding from the Start reflects the artist’s recurring interest in inner resilience, quiet strength, and the balance between fragility and endurance. The work draws on Burškaitienė’s broader artistic language, where architectural structure meets emotional symbolism. The surface invites close viewing, revealing deliberate textures and nuanced material interactions that change with light and perspective.

Artist Résumé (Short Biography)
Ramunė Burškaitienė (b. 1982) is a Lithuanian artist working in artistic jewelry and small-scale sculpture, with a strong focus on porcelain and sculptural ceramics. She holds a PhD in social sciences and spent over a decade in academia, lecturing at Šiauliai University and participating in international research projects before fully dedicating herself to artistic practice.
In 2021, she registered her artistic brand Ramunės nameilė and established a jewelry and ceramics studio in Šiauliai, Lithuania. Porcelain and chamotte ceramics are central to her work, often combined with precious metals, metal oxides, and mixed media. In 2023, she received a license from the Lithuanian Assay Office to work with precious metals and gemstones.
Her artistic philosophy is rooted in what she describes as a “duet of architectural aesthetics and inner harmony,” exploring archaic symbols, personal narratives, and contemporary form. Burškaitienė actively participates in exhibitions across Lithuania and works on bespoke commissions and conceptual installations.
