First edition of this collection of short prose pieces that Walser had previously published individually in various newspapers and magazines. The book was artistically designed by Robert Walser's brother, Karl Walser, who provided the cover illustration and numerous vignettes throughout the interior. On the front free endpaper there is an inscription “Herrn und Frau S. Fischer mit freundlichem Gruß – Robert Walser“, that looks like the original handwriting of Robert Walser. Creasing, browning, wear, and damage to the wrappers. The wrappers have some damage to the front and are reinforced with tape at the sides and the spine, which is also quite damaged and has some small pieces missing. The wrappers are fully detached from the text block. Pencil markings on the back free endpaper. Some creasing at the corner of the pages, especially in the first pages. The front free endpaper has a small tear in the outer margin. Browning, spotting, and the occasional smudging throughout. The text and illustrations are clear, and the binding is quite soft. Overall, a copy in fair condition.
