Item 095. Islamic Bronce Anillo - Medieval 10th - 14th AD (Sin precio de reserva)

Medieval Signet Ring – AD 10th to 14th Century – 18 mm (inner diameter), 20 mm (height) – 2.37 g This finely crafted medieval ring represents a simple yet purposeful example of personal adornment from the High to Late Medieval period. The ring features a modest signet bezel with incised linear and geometric motifs, reflecting a functional aesthetic typical of everyday or semi-official medieval jewelry rather than elite court production. The hoop is slender and slightly tapered, merging seamlessly into the flat bezel, which was likely intended for use as a personal mark or seal rather than as a purely decorative element. The engraved surface shows deliberate tool work, consistent with hand-engraving techniques of the period. The overall form suggests ownership by a free individual, merchant, or minor official. The surface displays a stable dark patina, with wear consistent with prolonged use and burial, while retaining clear structural integrity and legible decorative elements. • Material: Bronze (copper alloy) • Dimensions: 18 mm inner diameter; 20 mm height • Weight: 2.37 g • Date: ca. AD 10th–14th century • Condition: Very good condition A restrained yet evocative medieval ring, illustrating the practical craftsmanship and symbolic utility of personal jewelry in everyday medieval life. Provenance: Acquired from an auction house in 2025, previously owned by a collector from the South of Germany, acquired in the 1980s.
