[Unknown] - Qur'an - Qajar - 1809

A high quality manuscript from a damaged Qur’an of the early Qajar dynasty (1794-1925) which had the exact date on the last page of AH1224, or AD 1809/10. It contains the entire chapter 96, Al-Alaq (The Clinging Clot), together with the final verse of the previous chapter, At-Tin (The Fig). This chapter is traditionally recognized as the first revelation received by Prophet Muhammad in the Cave of Hira. It emphasizes the importance of knowledge, acknowledging Allah as the Creator and Educator, while warning against human arrogance and rebellion. The first five verses urge reading and highlight the use of the pen to spread knowledge. Then script features Arabian text in naskh, with an interlinear Persian translation written in red in nasta'liq script. Highly decorative illuminated headers mark the chapters beginning. Simple gold roundels mark the verses and the whole being framed in a thick gold line. Additional scholarly thoughts are contained in the decorative script in leaf shape symbology in the margins of the front and reverse folios. The condition is very good. PLEASE NOTE. Shipping costs are not solely the cost of the delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the delivery agent for processing. Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
