Abigail Varela (1948) - Time for peace

Time for Peace Film & Music Awards Trophy – Abigail Varela (Unique Gilded Bronze) This sculpture is not merely an artwork; it is the symbol of a vision — peace made tangible through art. This exceptional gilded bronze sculpture, created by the renowned Venezuelan sculptor Abigail Varela, is the original trophy of the Time for Peace Film & Music Awards, founded in New York in 1994 by Marion and Robert Einbeck. Standing 48 cm high, this work embodies Varela’s profound vision of peace: a female figure, archetype of Mother Earth, offering a rose to the universe — a timeless symbol of love, harmony, and human unity. Only approximately thirty casts were produced, all in bronze and awarded to internationally acclaimed figures such as Steven Spielberg, Robin Williams, Hilary Swank, Charles Aznavour, among others. This piece is the only known example cast in gilded bronze, making it absolutely unique. The sculpture is accompanied by its original Certificate of Authenticity, issued on April 17, 2008, numbered 08.79. Varela considered it a great honor that his work would be held by artists and creators whose hands and lives contributed to peace through art. Today, this sculpture stands as a rare and powerful testament to that ideal — a museum-quality piece at the crossroads of art, history, and humanistic values.
