Citroën 2CV6 Spécial (1985)
GENERAL
This is a charming 1985 Citroën 2CV6 Spécial, a late-production example of one of the most ingenious and recognizable automotive designs in history. Originally conceived in the 1930s to "motorize" rural France, the 2CV—or "Deux Chevaux"—became a global symbol of simplicity, utility, and French joie de vivre. By the mid-1980s, the model had reached its final mechanical evolution; this 1985 version features the more powerful 602cc air-cooled twin engine and, crucially, the factory-fitted inboard front disc brakes which significantly improved safety and stopping power compared to earlier drum-brake models. As a "Spécial" trim, it retains the classic round headlights that many purists prefer over the rectangular units found on the "Club" models of the same era, making it the quintessential collector's choice.
BODYWORK & PAINT
The bodywork is clean and shows no signs of rust, indicating that the vehicle was likely renovated by a previous owner. During this process, several body panels appear to have been replaced with new components before the car received a full repaint in its current vibrant finish. While the exterior presents very well, the underbody and floors remain solid but do show honest signs of age consistent with a car that has been enjoyed on the road. The distinctive folding vinyl roof cover is in almost new condition, functioning smoothly and providing a weather-tight seal with no leaks, allowing for the classic open-air driving experience that defined the 2CV.
TECHNICAL
Mechanically, the 2CV starts reliably and runs well, showcasing the legendary reliability of the M28/1 engine. The electrical system is fully functional, including the headlights and turn signals, ensuring the car is road-ready. The only technical item requiring attention is the fuel gauge, which is present but currently non-functional, a common and straightforward fix for this model. A new set of brand new front brake disc is provided , the ones in the car are fine but shows a bit of rust sport so could be a good idea to replace them, and no need to source the parts. few other new maintenance parts are also included , such as the "reniflard" ( engine breather ) , carb kit,...
Beneath the car, the exhaust system shows some surface rust but remains fully intact with no leaks detected, while the suspension maintains its famous long-travel "interconnected" compliance that allows the car to glide over uneven surfaces.
INTERIOR
The cabin remains clean and retains its minimalist, classic charm. The distinctive hammock-style seats are in good condition, and while they show some light signs of age, they remain comfortable and supportive. The interior reflects the "Spécial" aesthetic, which was designed to be functional and durable, presenting an inviting space that is ready for immediate use without the need for immediate refurbishment.
DOCUMENTS
The vehicle is sold with its complete Danish registration documents, facilitating an easy transfer or export process within the EU. One set of keys is provided with the car.
COLLECTION
The car is located in Denmark and is available for viewing or collection by appointment. While the buyer is responsible for arranging transport, the seller can assist with coordinating the handover to a professional shipping service if required.
OTHER INFORMATION
While this is not a concours "show car," it is a very strong and capable daily runner that perfectly embodies the spirit of the classic French icon. It offers a turn-key opportunity to enjoy the 2CV lifestyle, benefiting from the mechanical upgrades of the 1980s while retaining the 1940s silhouette. It is an ideal entry point into classic car ownership or a nostalgic addition to any serious collection.
