- Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) was one of the most important representatives of Art Nouveau and a central figure of the decorative arts movement that flourished in Europe at the end of the 19th century. His refined compositions, elegant female figures and intricate ornamental designs made him internationally famous, especially in Paris, where his posters and decorative panels became icons of the Belle Époque.
