Borower is a contemporary German-born artist whose work bridges the worlds of painting, philosophy, and language. Born in 1958 in Cologne, he studied fine arts, history, and philosophy, developing a multidisciplinary approach that continues to shape his artistic practice. He later settled in Vienna, where he lives and works. Borower’s artistic career is marked by a unique integration of visual and intellectual elements. Before dedicating himself fully to painting, he worked as a writer and playwright, contributing to major publications and cultural institutions. This background is clearly reflected in his art, where text, symbols, and layered meaning play a central role. His paintings are known for their distinctive use of written language embedded within richly textured surfaces.
