Scroll of Esther (Megillat Esther), executed in the HaMelech script style and adorned with floral ornamentation, likely dating to the 19th century. Composed of parchment, with structural elements in ivory or bone, it is entirely handwritten. There are flower and plant forms on the lower portion, and the upper portion has a tower of rings around their axis. Slight break in the ivory/bone handle (see photos).The Book of Esther constitutes the twenty-first book of the Hebrew Bible; it belongs to the Ketuvim (Writings) in the Jewish canon and is classified among the Historical Books of the Old Testament in the Christian tradition.
