Hellenistic Gold Twisted Earring with Head of a Lion Circa 4th-3rd century BC This impressive gold earring has a tapering rope-twist hoop that ends in a lion-head terminal. The animal's head is modelled with a ridged mane and crisp muzzle, giving the piece a powerful focus. A similar example can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 74.51.3493. Dimensions: 1,5.x 1cm x 0,3 weight:8,7g Provenance: Private European Collection; formerly acquired from old UK and European collection formed since the 1970s.
