- Ieder stuk is voorzien van een simpel en betrouwbaar ophangsysteem waarmee er meerdere eenvoudige manieren voor het ophangen mogelijk gemaakt worden. Er wordt een instructie bijgevoegd met een duidelijke en eenvoudige uitleg hierover. Je kan zelf dus kiezen voor 3 verschillende ophangmogelijkheden: (dichterbij en verder van de muur af).

Deze wandsculptuur is met de hand in de natte klei getekend en vervolgens, snede voor snede, met respect en gevoel voor het 'individueel karakter', in lijn met traditie en met ambacht uit het natuurlijk materiaal gesneden. Elk stuk is dus uniek, heeft zijn 'eigen karakter' en wordt in mijn atelier met de hand afgewerkt, geglazuurd en afgebakken. Geen massaproductie, maar één voor één met liefde en aandacht gemaakt.

De raaf wordt optimaal beschermd verpakt en vergezeld, zoals ook te zien is op de foto's, van een prachtig vormgegeven inlay, professioneel gedrukt op stevig karton, dat voorzien is van een persoonlijk Artist Statement, en van het achterliggend verhaal dat verwijst naar de rol van de raven: Huginn en Muninn uit de Noorse mythologie. De tekst is geschreven in de Engelse taal.

Matthijs Homs - Artist Statement:

Through my artworks I explore and touch the boundaries between surface and depth, structure and spontaneity, dream and reality, nature and culture, self and other and past present and future.

Each piece I create is like an artifact of a lost civilization from an imagined history; a relic from a ritual that never took place in a dreamscape where the boundaries between fact and fiction seem to dissolve.

Driven by curiosity I engage with naturally and culturally charged materials and concepts. Accompanying and guiding them through alchemical processes I invoke a playground where space opens up for beauty, enchantment and contemplation on inner connection and silence.

I am an Arnhem based creator and work across a wide variety of media, styles, concepts and materials. I let myself be inspired by ancient mystical traditions like the Egyptian pharaonic, Meso- American and Norse mythology. I create contemporary relics in which i make apparently separate elements come together. Through a wide array of media i reflect on thought models and systems of significance. As i play around with the different elements in a rhizomatic fashion i am questioning the fixity of 'things' and the significance they impose on us individually and collectively. I work rhizomatically, reflecting on the rhizome's open structure that is based on cooperation and interbeing; opposing and coexisting with the hierarchical competitive structure in which i feel trapped from time to time.
