A Luristan Bronze Spearhead, Western Iran, 2nd to 1st Millennium B.C. Well-preserved bronze spearhead of classic Luristan form, featuring a long, elegant leaf-shaped blade with a pronounced central rib and sharp edges. The socket is well-formed for attachment to a wooden shaft. The surface displays a rich dark patina with attractive areas of green oxidation, typical of ancient Iranian bronzes from the late Bronze Age to early Iron Age. Luristan weapons and tools are highly regarded for their technical sophistication and artistic quality. Spearheads like this were used by the warrior societies of the Zagros Mountains both in battle and as symbols of status.
