Strata Nº6
Acrylic on canvas. Part of the Strata series — a body of work exploring layered planes, geological tension and the geometry of landscape through controlled construction.
In this work, warm earth tones — ochre, sienna and deep crimson — are divided by a central band of vivid cobalt blue. Diagonal lines created with palette knife incisions cut through multiple layers of translucent glazes, generating depth and chromatic variation across the surface. Small geometric elements — red and blue rectangles — punctuate the composition as markers of scale and transition.
The painting is built through successive applications of color, where thin veils and controlled textures establish a balance between opacity and transparency. Rather than relying on expressive gesture, the work is constructed through structural decisions: each layer contributes to the overall tension and coherence of the surface.

About the artist
Maurizio Valch is a visual artist, writer and graphic designer, trained in Graphic Design and Fine Arts. He lived in Miami until 2013 and later in Barcelona, where he participated in exhibitions at the Royal Artistic Circle. In 2017, he presented work at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
His work explores metaphysical territories where geological landscape, structure and human consciousness intersect. Through horizons, incised lines, geometric forms and layered chromatic fields, he constructs images that suggest territory, perception and emergence.
