The set includes a large covered punch bowl and six matching handled cups made of heavy textured clear “bubble glass”. The organic relief surface and sculptural form are characteristic of Mid-Century Modern and Space Age design. The tactile bubble pattern strongly recalls the iconic “Ultima Thule” series by Iittala designed by Tapio Wirkkala, as well as the famous bubble glass aesthetics associated with Helena Tynell. A highly decorative and collectible German art glass set, ideal for entertaining or as a statement display piece in vintage, Scandinavian Modern, or brutalist-inspired interiors. Peill und Sohn merged with Putzler (founded in 1869) in 1947 as a glass works and lighting company and became Peill + Putzler Glashüttenwerke.
