Edad del Bronce Bronce Hoja de daga o cuchillo

Attention: due to customs regulations we can only ship inside the European Union. Please ensure you have a valid EU shipping address before placing a bid. Bronze Age, cast bronze blade of elongated, leaf-shaped form, with a broad central section tapering gradually towards a rounded point. The opposite end narrows slightly into a flat, rectangular tang intended for insertion into a handle of wood, bone, horn or another organic material, now lost. Length: ± 19,5 cm Good and solid condition. The bronze displays a smooth and shiny dark olive-green patina. The cutting edges are still sharp with some losses and signs of wear consistent with age and use. Certificate of Authenticity (PDF) is available upon request for all lots with a hammer price of €100 or higher. -> Bronze daggers and knives were cast in moulds and subsequently sharpened and finished by hammering and grinding. The central rib increased rigidity without requiring an excessively thick or heavy blade. Handles were commonly made from perishable materials and secured around a tang or by rivets, which explains why many surviving examples consist only of the blade. Depending on their size and construction, such objects could serve as practical knives, weapons or symbols of status, although their precise function cannot always be established with certainty.
