For years, his painting workshop has been surrounded by tools, machines and some members of his family. Perhaps for this reason, his work is so familiar and close, although he is considered one of the most international artists of the Catalan region of Bages. “I started in the world of drawing and painting at the age of 9, when my parents enrolled me in the academy of the Manresa post-impressionist artist Estanislao Vilajosana where I learned the trade and attended until I was 13.” Through stains, splashes, lines and dripped paint, Joaquim Falcó manages to be a pop art artist without wanting to, because he has an impressionist soul. In his early days as a precocious artist he dedicated himself to landscape and artistic portraiture. His first exhibition came in 1979 when the walls of the Sala d'Art Xipell in Manresa were filled with his first works. Before changing the decade, Joaquim Falcó signs with two art galleries that will ensure that he can dedicate himself completely to painting. His next springboard comes from Italy where collectors connect with his style and receive various commissions for Ferrari. After making the leap to the United States, the market for which he will make his series of refreshing drinks in full color, texture and movement. Expressive lines and accentuated chromaticism are several of the marks that identify it. As he himself confides, his paintings are made with proximity, “a body to body” between the canvas and his own organism. Some of his canvases have been painted on the ground, under the pressure of a hand or Falcó's body. As if it were an old geography map, the canvases are spread out to be made, before being permanently hung on the wall. Getting dirty is part of that unique essence that comes from getting so close to woven fibers and pigments. Just like the daily life of someone who drinks coffee at the bar in front of his house, Joaquim Falcó's paintings are objects rooted in our daily lives. Without forgetting a dose of fantasy, tenderness, mimetic emotions and childhood memories that are mixed with the inspiration provided by the works of great painters such as: Picasso, Van Gogh, Cézanne, Velázquez or Goya. Any painter would feel proud to be their son, even if only metaphorically, but Joaquim Falcó also pays tribute to them through his work. This heterogeneous iconography, an ode to the history of art, consumer objects, animals and nature are reinterpreted with a specific, very personal language, close to neo-impressionism, where it is difficult to know if the painter enjoys creating his work more than the viewer himself. . contemplating it. “Painting and drawing are my passion, for me it is not a job, I enjoy doing it. With my works I express my emotions through images of our environment that I turn into art.” On the surfaces of Joaquim Falcó's flat colors, a world of thick brushstrokes grows, of textures in the form of a collage that give the objects that surround us, and that are so familiar to us, an added value and that distinguishes it from the works of other contemporary artists. His emotional strength, the fascinating brilliance of his paintings and his admiration for the Avant-garde painters of the 20th century, is a combination that results from an aesthetic language that expresses a heightened authenticity. .
