Rare 18th-century medical treatise by Swiss physician Samuel Auguste David Tissot (1728–1797), one of the leading Enlightenment authorities on clinical medicine. This Dublin printing is the first and only Irish edition, issued shortly after the London translation (1768). Presented in the form of letters to Albert von Haller, the work covers early medical perspectives on smallpox, apoplexy (stroke), dropsy (edema), and nervous disorders, before the advent of modern pathology and vaccination.
