Edad del Hierro Bronce Bangle (Sin Precio de Reserva)
An Iron Age bronze penannular bangle formed from one continuous rod of metal. The bangle features a regular loop with a square section. The terminals feature flattened faces and vertical incision near the ends. A green patina and earthly encrustations to the surface. Signs of wear as consistent with age, such as minor surface pitting and scratches.
Metal jewellery is one of the most significant features of Iron Age life, discovered as valued grave goods, buried with men and women alike. The wealthiest burials were those of warriors and princes, often containing exquisitely made bronze swords, spears, and jewellery. It was a very important part of many Iron Age societies and something that held great value as a major part of their identity. Bronze bangles, such as this beautiful example, may have been worn as bracelets or armbands.
Internal diameter: circa 6.4cm
Provenance: Ex. London collection, acquired 1990s-present.
