Launched in 2016, 'Transcontinental Rum Line' is a new brand aimed at seducing lovers of high-end rum. The colorful packaging is inspired by rum merchants' travels between the New World and the Old Continent. Evaporation rates were found to be lower when the barrels matured en route, rather than in the warm Caribbean climate, so travel was seen as having an economic advantage. Similarly, Transcontinental Rum bottlings are f irst aged in a tropical climate for 4-5 years and then up to 12 months in Europe. Colder conditions slow down the ripening process. These editions have a natural force mixing the traditional distillery and the sea, a new concept of exclusivity, with very limited bottles.
