Giancarlo Vigorelli - Amerigo Tot - 1978

Amerigo Tot by Giancarlo Vigorelli (ed.) Carte Segrete, Rome, 1978 – First edition Autoritratto, Biblioteca d’Arte, no. 17 Language: Italian Binding: Exceptional corrugated cardboard binding. 140 pp., richly illustrated with black-and-white photographs. Personally signed and dedicated by Amerigo Tot to Márta Tóth. A monograph on the Hungarian-born sculptor Amerigo Tot (Imre Tóth, 1909–1984), one of the most distinctive post-war artists working in Italy. Edited by the Italian critic Giancarlo Vigorelli, the volume offers an overview of Tot’s life, his Roman period, and his major sculptural and architectural commissions. Numerous documentary photographs present his dynamic reliefs, public sculptures, and studio work. Binding: the covers are made of genuine industrial packing cardboard — a raw, textured, materially expressive design choice that reflects the tactile nature of Tot’s sculpture. Carte Segrete used this unusual binding for select avant-garde titles in the Autoritratto series, and surviving copies in good condition are uncommon. An important reference work on Amerigo Tot and a striking example of 1970s Italian art publishing — both for its visual content and for its innovative, material-driven design. Condition: Good, collectable copy. Interior clean and complete; illustrations intact. Dedication fully legible.
