2017 La Fuga - Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - 6 Bouteilles (0,75 L)

La Fuga Brunello di Montalcino 2017 DESCRIPTION: Producer: La Fuga Folonari Wine: Le Due Sorelle Brunello di Montalcino Vintage: 2017 Number of Bottles: 6 Size:0,75 Grapes: 100% Sangiovese Aging: at least 36 months in big oak barrels Alc.: 15% One of Ambrogio & Giocanni Folonari's smaller estates, Montalcino's La Fuga estate sits just above 4,000 meters above sea level on rich sedimentary soil. Mount Amiata rises high in southeastern Tuscany, protecting the region's vineyards with a southwest exposure toward the Tyrrhenian Sea, protected by rolling hills. What many call Sangiovese grosso is called Brunello in the municipality of Montalcino and is considered superior to Sangiovese grapes from other regions. Handpicked and fermented on the skins in stainless steel tanks, the wine is then aged in large Slovenian oak barrels for four years, with a further 12 months in the bottle. La Fuga's Brunello grapes are no exception to Brunello's distinction as an elegant yet powerful wine. The nose opens with chocolate-covered raspberries, smoky wood, licorice, and a rustic earthiness. On the palate, the wine displays a good structure with soft tannins and lively acidity. Ripe red fruits, undergrowth, tobacco, and a hint of peppery vanilla give way to a long, chewy finish. This wine is enjoyable young and will continue to captivate drinkers for years to come. Pair with poultry, aged cheeses, and red meats.
