ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This portrait of Marilyn Monroe captures the fragile equilibrium between icon and intimacy. Beyond the legendary smile, the work explores what remains once the myth is stripped of its shine.
The face emerges through layers of stencil cuts, alternating between softness and tension. Light areas suggest glamour and radiance, while darker fragments carve out vulnerability, solitude, and silent pressure. Nothing here is purely celebratory — everything is dual.
The warm, vibrant background amplifies this contrast. Pink and orange tones evoke fame, desire, and spectacle, while the fragmented portrait subtly resists idealization. Marilyn is not frozen in perfection; she feels alive, human, and slightly out of reach.
The stencil technique reinforces this reading. The image is constructed, deconstructed, and rebuilt — echoing how her public image was endlessly shaped by others. Each cut acts like a fracture, revealing both strength and fragility beneath the surface.
This artwork is not a tribute to a symbol, but a tension-filled portrait of a woman caught between light and shadow. A powerful, timeless piece that speaks to collectors drawn to icons with depth, history, and emotional resonance.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am a French stencil artist whose work explores contrast — between instinct and precision, chaos and control, heritage and contemporary expression. My practice combines spontaneous, textured backgrounds with meticulously hand-cut multi-layer stencils.
I have exhibited alongside major figures of the urban art scene such as L’Atlas, C215, Carole B, Wawapod, and Jo Di Bona at the SPERA ART FAIR.
My work has been collected throughout Europe, with more than 300 artworks sold internationally.
I also create live painting performances for major institutions and brands, including Disneyland Paris.
Each artwork is a unique original. While stencils may be reused, every background is created instinctively, ensuring that no two works are ever identical. My approach revisits iconic figures through tension, restraint, and emotional depth rather than simple representation.
