MiLo - Imagined Botanical Anatomy ll - XXL

MiLo – “Imagined Botanical Anatomy II” A work by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976). Imagined Botanical Anatomy II expands MiLo’s ongoing Garden Series with a composition that feels like an abstracted landscape of towering blooms. The bold black shapes rise against a warm, textured background, their carved lines and irregular forms echoing petals, stems, and seed heads — yet always remaining abstract enough to invite multiple interpretations. Some forms appear monumental and sculptural, others delicate and rhythmic, creating a dynamic interplay of scale that evokes the sense of looking across a garden rather than at a single flower. Subtle drips, scratches, and layered marks add movement and atmosphere, giving the scene an expressive, almost primal energy. The painting will be rolled up and shipped in a sturdy tube or box, without frame, and includes a signed certificate of authenticity. ⸻ About the artist MiLo (1976) is an Amsterdam-based artist with a background in photography and art studies. Over the years he has sold more than 800 original works, now residing in private collections, hotels, restaurants, and offices across Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. His practice spans from early Pollock-inspired action paintings to precise geometric compositions, and to the layered, scratched surfaces he often explores today. In his current work, MiLo investigates the tension between construction and erosion — layering and scraping the painted surface until traces emerge. These may recall urban structures, geological strata, or remnants of thought, yet the imagery remains open-ended. Each canvas evolves through process and chance, allowing multiple interpretations to surface beyond any single theme. Each work forms part of an ongoing exploration of abstraction, memory, and transformation, making MiLo one of the most prolific and recognizable contemporary artists on Catawiki.
