Title: Ketchup Memory – Reclaimed Icons Series This original oil painting is part of my Reclaimed Icons series, a body of work focused on objects of mass culture after use. The ketchup bottle is no longer full, no longer new. Its surface, transparency, and remaining traces of sauce speak of consumption, repetition, and everyday gestures. What was designed to be identical and functional becomes singular through use. In Ketchup Memory, the object is not altered by force but by time and habit. The slow emptying of the bottle leaves behind marks, stains, and residues — subtle signs of human presence. The product’s original purpose fades, replaced by memory and trace. This painting reflects on how ordinary objects absorb human life. Used, emptied, and set aside, they lose their commercial neutrality and gain identity. The individual act — eating, squeezing, finishing — interrupts industrial perfection and turns a mass-produced object into a personal relic.
