Josef Hampl (1932 - 2019)
He was known as an author of collages, painter, sculptor, graphic artist and was one of the founders of Czech abstract art. He became famous for his original stitched collage technique. He also devoted himself to sculpture and the implementation of land art projects.
He collaborated with a number of important personalities, such as Vladimír Boudník, Bohumil Hrabal and Jiří Kolář. He exhibited independently from 1964 and during the 1970s and 1980s he was also known abroad. In 2017, he was awarded the Vladimír Boudník Award for his significant contribution to Czech graphics.
