The chair features an oval backrest with carved cresting decorated with stylised foliage, fluted legs with gilded details, and a painted finish over traditional gesso ground. Traces of original polychromy and gilding are visible beneath later repainting, indicating historical interventions over time.
The upholstery retains early materials, including traditional horsehair stuffing and hand-applied webbing. The red damask fabric appears to be an old upholstery layer and is now in worn condition, offering an interesting glimpse into the chair’s layered history.
The structure is solid. Surface wear, paint losses and signs of age are consistent with its period and use.
