ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Le Gorille” embodies quiet authority and grounded strength.
Rather than portraying aggression, I chose introspection. The gorilla’s gaze is calm, steady, almost reflective. There is power here — but it is controlled, contained, aware. The close composition invites the viewer into a silent confrontation, where presence speaks louder than movement.
Using my double-layer stencil technique, I sculpted the textures of the fur through sharp contrasts and layered precision. Every detail was digitally designed, then manually hand-cut before being applied with spray paint. The interplay of deep blacks and light tones gives the portrait depth and sculptural impact.
The mineral green-grey abstract background was created instinctively, evoking natural environments while remaining contemporary and urban. This tension between spontaneous texture and meticulous stencil work defines my artistic language.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork. While the stencil may return in future explorations, each background is unique — ensuring that every piece carries its own emotional energy.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alexandre Petrus is a French stencil artist working at the crossroads of street art, digital creation and traditional craftsmanship. Based in the South of France, he designs his stencils digitally before printing and hand-cutting them with extreme precision.
His artistic approach is built around “originality in repetition”: the stencil can return, but the background is always spontaneous and unique. This dialogue between control and instinct shapes his visual identity.
He has created large-scale murals across France and performs live paintings for weddings and corporate events, bringing urban art energy into both public and private spaces.
