Ionut Hazu - The Ascent of Inner Vision
"The Ascent of Inner Vision"
Oil and acrylic on canvas
100x70 cm
This compelling portrait depicts a figure set against a smooth, solid lavender/lilac background. The figure, shown from the chest up, wears a vibrant, cerulean blue jacket meticulously adorned with detailed yellow and green botanical (leaf) patterns.
The technique on the face and neck is a heavy, expressive impasto acrylic, creating a rich, physical texture that intentionally distorts the facial features through sweeping movements of white, yellow, and vibrant fuchsia pink tones. The neck is rendered in a deep, textured brown.
As with the artist's previous works, a single, perfectly detailed oil-painted eye serves as the anchor. Here, it is a warm, piercing brown eye, directed upwards, contrasting sharply with the matte abstraction surrounding it. This creates a moment of clear connection in an otherwise fragmented reality.
Note: This original artwork is accompanied by a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity, personally issued by the artist.
"The Ascent of Inner Vision" is a thematic evolution from the first piece.
The choice of the lavender background, a color often associated with spirit and healing, creates a softer space for the soul's expression. The figure’s face, a complex storm of emotional impasto (acrylic), is still in a state of flux, symbolizing the ongoing process of self-creation and the "noise" we must still navigate.
However, the core change is the focus. The detailed, oil-painted brown eye looks not at the viewer, but upwards. This is the look of someone seeking higher meaning, understanding, or a connection to something greater than themselves. It is the moment we stop looking outwards at others and start looking inside and upwards for our own truth.
The patterned jacket, with its thriving, nature-inspired motifs, suggests that a person’s spirit can "flower" or "bloom" even when the outward image is in disarray. It shows that our capacity for beauty, growth, and natural connection remains, no matter how much we are distorted by the textures of life.
About artist:
Hazu Ionut is a self-taught painter born in Bacau, Romania. From a young age he was attracted to visual arts, but without a mentor to guide him, he took the brush and started painting. He still doesn't have a particular style, that's why in his portfolio we find works of art from portraits to figurative art and static nature. Many of his artworks have appeared in various catalogs dedicated to art lovers.
Appears in publications with interviews such as Mutual art, Pice Gallery, Artit.
