Inspired by the city of Córdoba, Sonnet to Córdoba brings together some of its most distinctive architectural and natural elements. The iconic arches of the Mosque–Cathedral, the columns inspired by the Roman Temple, and the city’s orange trees are woven into the composition around a serene female figure, creating a harmonious dialogue between architecture, nature, and light.
A palette of soft turquoise, white, and warm citrus tones enhances the luminous atmosphere. Layers of fluid paint and translucent glazes create subtle depth, movement, and luminosity, revealing the artist’s distinctive painting technique. Rooted in her personal connection to Córdoba, the work reflects the city’s colours, forms, and quiet character through a contemporary visual language.
Natalia Revelles López (b. 1983, Córdoba, Spain) is a painter whose work explores identity, memory, and the relationship between the human mind and nature.
She studied Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts Alonso Cano in Granada, graduating in
2006. Her practice combines portraiture with natural and symbolic elements, using expressive brushwork, rich textures, and mixed media.
In recent years, her work has evolved toward an increasingly symbolic and introspective language.
This research crystalized in her solo exhibition Reflection of the Unconscious presented from September 4 to October 31, 2025, in the upper cloister of the Palacio de Congresos de Córdoba, a historic site of great heritage value. In this project, Natalia delves into the idea of the image as an emotional mirror, inviting the viewer to confront their own layers of consciousness.
