Rado - Monte Rosa - Senza prezzo di riserva - 11722 - Uomo - 1970-1979

Available now on auction by Second Vintage This Rado Monte Rosa is a striking example of 1970s avant-garde design, featuring a substantial case architecture and a mesmerizing gradient dial. A rare find in such well-preserved condition, this timepiece combines the robust "Water-Sealed" engineering Rado was famous for with a distinctively retro aesthetic that stands out on the wrist. Brand: Rado Model: Monte Rosa Reference Number: 11722 Movement: Automatic Caliber 2793 Dial: Olive Green Gradient / Fumé Case Size: 39 mm Case Material: Stainless Steel Production Year: c. 1970s Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The watch presents beautifully with a flawless dial, and some honest wear throughout and on the case, supported by strong timegrapher results. Dial and Hands The dial features a captivating olive green gradient that transitions to a deep black at the periphery, creating a rich fumé effect typical of the era. It is adorned with faceted, high-polished block indices that catch the light dramatically. A signature rotating Rado anchor logo sits below the 12 o'clock position. A particularly charming detail is the date window at 3 o'clock, which features a red date wheel. The silver-tone stick hands are crisp and offer excellent contrast against the dark dial. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case is architecturally significant, measuring a bold 39mm with an oval, hooded-lug design. The upper surface of the case retains its original factory vertical brushing, while the sides are polished, creating a sophisticated interplay of textures. While the lines remain sharp and defined, there is visible wear throughout and on the case consistent with vintage use, lending authentic character. The crown is original and signed with the Rado anchor. The screw-down caseback is in excellent condition, clearly displaying the reference number and the iconic tri-seahorse medallion. The crystal is clear with only very minor evidence of vintage use. Movement Powering the watch is the Swiss-made automatic caliber 2793 with 25 jewels. The movement is clean and features a gold-plated rotor signed by Rado. It is currently running within vintage tolerances. Timegrapher testing indicates a rate between +3 and +6 seconds per day with strong amplitude, which indicates a healthy movement offering reliable vintage performance. Strap The watch is fitted with a stainless steel Milanese mesh bracelet that perfectly complements the case design. It features a signed Rado sliding clasp, allowing for easy adjustment. The bracelet is in excellent condition and will accommodate a wrist size of approximately 19cm. Condition This timepiece is in excellent vintage condition. The dial is pristine with no visible aging, spotting, or damage. The case retains its original geometry with sharp edges and clearly defined brushed surfaces, showing some wear throughout and on the case as expected for its age, yet remaining attractive and full of character. The movement is clean and mechanically sound. Dimensions The case measures 39mm in diameter excluding the crown. Remarks The Rado Monte Rosa is a fantastic representation of the Space Age design language that defined the 1970s. Finding one with such a vibrant gradient dial and the unique red date wheel is uncommon, especially in this overall excellent condition despite some honest wear. It is a collectible piece that offers both historical interest and distinct style for the modern collector. History Rado, founded in Lengnau, Switzerland in 1917 as Schlup & Co., began producing watches under the Rado brand name in 1957. The company quickly established itself as a pioneer in materials and design, notably with the scratch-resistant DiaStar in 1962. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Rado experimented with unconventional case shapes and colorful dials, positioning itself as a forward-thinking innovator in the Swiss watch industry. The Monte Rosa series exemplifies this era of bold creativity and robust engineering. Payment and Shipping Payment must be completed within 1-3 days after purchase. The watch will be securely packaged and shipped with tracking and insurance for your peace of mind. Please review the pictures carefully before bidding. We strive to showcase the watch from multiple angles for an accurate representation. As with all vintage watches, water resistance is not guaranteed. The watch will be delivered in fully functional working condition. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us after the auction ends. / Second Vintage SKU: RAD-RMR-0001
