Stoneware Beer jug –Siegburg, Germany- around 1450
On offer is a stoneware beer jug, made in Siegburg around 1400-1450. This sturdy beer jug has nice proportions and a nice pinched base. The jug has a gray-white color, and a salt glazed spot just above the foot rim, typical for Siegburg production. This is a good example of sintered stoneware! Provenance: Archaeological find near the former Voorst castle, dating back to the second half of the 14th Century. From our own collection, acquired ca. 1995 from Kroezenga collection.
Date: early 15th Century, ca. 1400-1450.
Size: The height is 18 cm and the diameter of the belly is approximately 10,5 cm.
Condition: The jug is in good, light restored condition. The jug is intact and only has a missing shard at the rim which has been restored using sturdy identical color and properties material (visible with UV light, total originality approximately 97%).
Will be packed very well and shipped with registered track/trace with insurance. Combined shipping possible, we return postage costs.
