Omega De Ville “America” quartz men’s wristwatch – stainless steel / 18K gold-plated Omega De Ville “America” quartz men’s wristwatch from the late 1970s to early 1980s period. The movement works flawlessly and keeps highly accurate time. Immaculate gold-tone dial with applied indices and silver-tone hands (slightly worn). Date window at the 3 o’clock position; two-position crown with quick-set date function – the date changes cleanly and precisely. During time setting, the seconds hand runs rapidly around the dial. This is a construction-related characteristic of early premium Swiss quartz movements: during time adjustment, the stepper motor is not disengaged, and the mechanical time-setting train acts simultaneously on the seconds wheel. This is not a defect, but a period-correct, factory design characteristic. In normal operation, the movement functions stably and accurately. Hairline scratch-free mineral crystal. Signed crown. Original signed Omega stainless steel / gold-plated (bi-color) bracelet. Minor signs of wear consistent with age; light wear to the gold-plated surfaces, mainly along the bezel edges and, barely visible to the naked eye, on parts of the gold-plated bracelet. Signed stainless steel caseback (engraved). The watch is powered by a Swiss ETA 255.411 quartz movement, specifically designed for slim, elegant dress watches of this type. The combination of the movement and the watch is type-correct and period-correct. In line with the production practices of the era, the movement is not Omega-signed, which was an accepted and factory-correct solution for De Ville quartz models of this period. This is explained by the fact that Omega operated within the ETA ownership and industrial group, and for simpler quartz executions of the time, Omega branding on the movement was not applied in every case. The unsigned version of this movement is documented and factory-used in Omega De Ville quartz models from the 1970s–1980s. Model: Omega De Ville “America” Movement: Swiss ETA quartz Caliber: ETA 255.411 Case: stainless steel / 18K gold-plated (bi-color) Size: 29 mm × 29 mm Crystal: mineral crystal (hairline scratch-free) Reference: DL 196.0254 (“DL” refers to De Ville Line) Serial number: 396 0949 Estimated production period: approx. 1978–1981 The photos form part of the item description.
