Copper Paperweight - Scultura Bronzo - Giappone (Senza prezzo di riserva)

Copper Paperweight|En Tsuba Katsuzo 園鍔勝三(えんつばかつぞう) This copper paperweight was created in 1986 as a commemorative work for the 50th anniversary of Tama Art University, where the artist served as a professor. It was not produced for commercial sale and was made exclusively for this anniversary, making it a particularly rare piece. En Tsuba Katsuzo was a leading figure in modern Japanese sculpture and a recipient of the Order of Culture. In his early career, he focused on wood carving, and after the war he worked with materials such as copper, bronze, ceramics, and resin. While many artists of the postwar period turned toward abstraction, he consistently pursued figurative sculpture based on realism, using simplified human forms as his primary motif. This work takes the form of a paperweight, yet it reflects the sculptural sensibility and technical skill of the artist. The piece bears an incised signature and the artist’s seal, indicating it is an authentic work by En Tsuba Katsuzo. The wooden stand shown in the photos is for display purposes only and is not included. --- Artist Profile 1905 Born in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan Early career focused on wood carving After World War II worked with copper, bronze, ceramics, resin, and mixed materials Pursued figurative sculpture based on realism throughout his career 2003 Died in Japan --- Accessories No accessories included --- Dimensions & Weight Height 7 cm Width 22 cm Depth 2.5 cm Weight 504 g --- Technique & Condition Sculpture Copper Signed with incised signature and artist seal Excellent condition: barely used with minimal signs of wear --- Shipping Shipping via Japan Post EMS from Japan.
