=== Erskine And Gibbs AND TRIAL BY JURY===
The 1794 Thomas Hardy Halfpenny Token is a historical copper "Conder" token minted to commemorate the acquittal of radical reformer Thomas Hardy on charges of high treason
Hardy, a shoemaker and founder of the London Corresponding Society, was targeted by William Pitt the Younger’s government to suppress British radicalism during the French Revolution.
Despite a grueling nine-day trial—the longest for high treason at that time—the jury acquitted Hardy on November 5, 1794. This result was celebrated as a victory for civil liberties against government overreach.
