Sue Bielenberg (1965–2023) - 1 Original preliminary drawing - The Simpsons

Original pencil production drawing from the animated series The Simpsons, created circa 2008–2009. This is a hand-drawn character layout model, used as a production reference for the animation of an episode from Season 20. The drawing was made by Sue Bielenberg (1965–2023), assistant director and animation artist, who worked notably on The Simpsons, Rugrats: Search for Reptar (1998), and The Oblongs (2001). The first two illustrations of Lisa Simpson were used in the production of Season 20, Episode 18 (Father Knows Worst), where their use can be seen at the end of the episode. The final illustration refers to Season 2, Episode 16, released during the golden age of The Simpsons, in which Ned Flanders wears his “assassin shoes”—shoes that were later manufactured following the success of that episode. The drawing includes a note suggesting making a humorous reference to these shoes in Season 20, Episode 18, if there was a way to do something funny with it. This drawing is an authentic studio document, bearing witness to the craftsmanship of traditional animation and the production of a series that has become a global cult classic. A sought-after piece for collectors and animation enthusiasts. Dimensions: 21.6 × 28 cm
