James Bond 007: Octopussy
A recreation of the iconic silk robe worn by Octopussy (Maud Adams) the 1983 film Octopussy.
Backstory:
The iconic octopus artwork was created by Maciek Piotrowski. and appears in the film on hand tattoos, barge flags, and most memorably, on Octopussy's silk robe. For this the costume team customised a plain gown by commissioning a local Udaipur artist to hand paint straight onto the silk.
In the film, the robe is worn by Octopussy (Maud Adams) in the Octopalace, an exotic Indian residence which is home to her women-only sisterhood. Bond arrives on the floating island disguised as an crocodile in one of Q's aquatic devices, unaware that Octopussy is watching his every move on her surveillance cameras.
Details:
Handmade in silk satin, the robe has full kimono sleeves, a wrap front, printed back and a plain silk satin self-tie sash belt at the waist.
Beautifully cut from unlined ivory silk satin, the robe is decorated with an exact recreation of the original Octopussy octopus symbol, recreated in painterly tones of blue, tan and gold.
