Fine gourd shaped white nephrite jade pendant elephant –China- 20th Century On offer is a good quality Chinese white nephrite jade pendant, shaped as a gourd and finely carved on both sides. At the front side many symbolism elaborated in detail, like an elephant walking in ruyi (as you wish) grass. The elephant bears a vase with lingzhi fungus (for long life) on his back. In top a flying bat and peaches for happiness and long life. At the back side also a large bat at the bottom and more lucky characters and symbolism. A fine example! Has been identified as nephrite jade by measuring thermal conductivity and hardness and translucency. All our jade is obtained in China.
