Very beautiful oil on board painting by Imre Knopp (Hungarian, 1867 - 1945) - "Fugitives" with a female head study verso. Oil on board. Framed. Signed in black lower left corner with "Knopp Imre". 19th Century. It depicts two figures wearing little clothing running through open pastures. Verso with a female head study. Old ink inscription verso with name of painter and title of artwork. Chalk inscriptions verso. The painting was preserved in a good state of conservation. The wood frame is in a rather good condition, the painting is ready to be hanged. Provenance: reputable UK auction house. Imre Knopp (1867-1945) was a Hungarian painter with acquired artistic qualifications in Weimar, then Paris, and finally in Budapest. He won several state gold medals and awards. He first exhibited in the Art Gallery in 1887 and between 1922 and 1930 he organized a collection exhibition there. His works are present in the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest.
