Impressionante e ben conservato metatarso di sauropode. - Scheletro articolato fossilizzato - toe bone
This substantial specimen measures 24 cm in length and is notably heavy and dense (900 grs), reflecting the solid bone structure typical of large Morrison Formation sauropods.
The morphology — a robust shaft with expanded proximal and distal articular surfaces — is fully consistent with metapodial elements of sauropod dinosaurs such as Camarasaurus.
Sauropods dominated the Late Jurassic ecosystems of North America approximately 150 million years ago. Genera such as Camarasaurus could reach lengths of over 20 meters and were among the most abundant large herbivores of the Morrison ecosystem.
This bone formed part of the weight-bearing foot structure that supported these gigantic animals across Jurassic floodplains.
A striking and authentic display specimen from one of the most iconic dinosaur-bearing formations in the world.
Identification: Sauropoda indet.
Comparable to: Camarasaurus sp.
Bone type: Metatarsal (toe bone)
Age: Late Jurassic (~150 million years old)
Formation: Morrison Formation
Location: Wyoming, USA
Length: 24 cm
Condition: Original fossil bone; naturally fractured and professionally stabilized (glued in three sections). No sculpted restoration.
Wood stand included.
