Candeliere - Ottone dorato - Ormolu
A pair of 19th-century Italian Gothic Revival altar candlesticks in ormolu. The design draws on medieval architectural vocabulary, with stepped bases and tower-like stems articulated with trefoil and lancet detailing, rising to foliate drip pans and prickets.
The ormolu retains a fine, even gilded surface with a warm gold sheen. The casting is crisp, particularly in the pierced and architectural elements, indicating competent workmanship consistent with ecclesiastical metalwork of the period. The proportions are balanced and suitably vertical, as expected for altar furnishings.
Condition is good and structurally sound. One of the architectural tower elements shows a minor bump, visible upon close inspection but not detracting from overall presentation. The prickets are slightly uneven in height; this is a minor issue and could be corrected with straightforward adjustment if desired. The gilded surface shows light wear consistent with age and use.
Diameter drip pans 8 cm
Diameter base 12cm
