Lampada a olio - Bronzo indiano Dhokra - Pavone - Bronzo
Antique Indian Dhokra Bronze Oil Lamp with Peacock – In excellent condition – No reserve.
Authentic hand-cast Indian oil lamp (Diya / Deepam), produced using the ancient Dhokra lost-wax casting technique, a tribal bronze tradition practiced for centuries in regions such as Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and West Bengal.
This sculptural lamp is richly decorated with a peacock motif, a powerful symbol in Indian culture representing beauty, grace, prosperity, and auspiciousness. The organic, tactile surface and slightly irregular forms are characteristic of genuine Dhokra craftsmanship.
Traditionally used for Puja rituals, temple offerings, and festivals such as Diwali, where cotton wicks soaked in ghee or oil are placed in the bowl. Today, it also serves as a striking decorative object with strong ethnographic and sculptural presence.
