Willen - Strumenti da chirurgo - Acciaio, Legno

A rare, military‑marked Willen set from 1940's London, presented in its original fitted wooden case and offered strictly as a historical display piece, not for use. The case is marked with the military broad arrow confirming that it was made for the British Army, most likely during WW2. Step back into the world of the mid‑century British military hospital with this striking surgical syringe set by Willen Bros., 44 New Cavendish Street, London W.1. The set is housed in its original, well‑made wooden case with inset maker’s plaque and fitted recesses for each component, giving it tremendous visual impact when opened for display. At the heart of the set is a substantial metal syringe with T‑bar plunger handle crisply stamped with the British military broad arrow, confirming issue to government medical services rather than civilian practice. The syringe is accompanied by a series of long, turned‑metal cannulae and a finely engineered stop‑cock/valve assembly, all nestled in the fitted tray. The quality of machining and plating is exactly what one would expect from a specialist West End surgical instrument maker supplying hospitals and the forces. The syringe barrel, plunger handle and valve section all show matching finish and attractive age toning, with light marks from careful use but no abuse. The wooden case closes well and still has its original brass hardware and internal fittings, giving a strong sense that you are handling a complete, carefully preserved medical outfit rather than a box of oddments. It displays beautifully open on a shelf, in a themed interior, or alongside other military items. This set is sold for display and historical interest only. Condition Used condition with age‑related marks and light wear to metal surfaces. Plating generally bright with some small scratches and handling marks consistent with age. Wooden case solid and presentable, with very minor scuffs, marks and surface wear to the finish. Contents appear complete but offered exactly as seen in the photographs. This is a scarce opportunity to acquire a named, military‑marked Willen Bros. syringe set with strong visual presence – a perfect centrepiece for an antique medical or military collection, or a talking‑point display piece in a study or office. The case measures 27.5 x 14.5cm (10.82" x 5.7").
