Dirk de Bruycker è nato nel 1955 a Gand (Belgio) e deceduto nel 2015 a Santa Fe (USA). Ha studiato presso la City Academy of Fine Arts a Sint-Niklaas e l’Istituto St. Lucas di Belle Arti a Gand, dove ha conseguito il Master of Arts nel 1977.

Nel 1979 si è trasferito negli Stati Uniti per studiare al Tamarind Institute a Albuquerque, essendo uno dei primi artisti belgi in quel prestigioso centro. Dopo un breve ritorno in Belgio, ha gestito uno studio litografico e un’attività didattica. Nel 1986 si è trasferito stabilmente a Santa Fe (Nuovo Messico), dove ha proseguito l’attività artistica per i decenni successivi.

Negli anni 2002–2008 ha gestito anche uno studio a Granada, Nicaragua, viaggiando regolarmente tra l’America Centrale e gli Stati Uniti.

Dirk de Bruycker ha partecipato a oltre 45 mostre personali in istituzioni e gallerie negli USA e in Europa (Santa Fe, San Diego, Denver, New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Scottsdale).
