Item Description This is a collection of Japanese sword fittings (刀装具, Tōsōgu) offered as a single lot, comprising antique parts for both long sword (katana) and short sword (wakizashi). The set includes: 9 Saya (鞘) — Sword Scabbards: A varied collection of lacquered scabbards ranging from approximately 36 cm to 55 cm in length. Finishes include deep black lacquer (kuro-nuri), red-flecked lacquer (shu-nuri), and natural wood. Several retain their original sageo (紐 / cord) in gold, beige, and teal braiding. 2 Habaki-shim / Seppa (切羽) — Spacer Collars: Two oval copper/bronze blade collar spacers (seppa), used to secure the guard and fittings on the blade. 1 Habaki (はばき) — Blade Collar: One blade collar, the critical fitting that locks the blade within the scabbard. Shown in copper/bronze. 7 Tsuka (柄) — Sword Handles: A diverse group of handles in various states, including those wrapped in same (鮫皮, ray skin) in white and black, plain wood, and red-lacquered wood. Several retain their mekugi (目釘) peg holes. One tsuka retains a menuki (目貫) ornament. These parts originate from the Edo to Meiji era (estimated 17th–19th century) and are being offered fresh from original storage for the first time.
