Otto Steinert - Pariser Formen - 2008

WONDERFUL PARIS BOOK by the famous German photographer and teacher Otto Steinert (1915-1978), later (since 1973): Professor Dr. Otto Steinert, head of the specialised photography class in Saarbrücken and later charismatic and highly influential teacher at "Folkwang School" in Essen. TRUE FIRST ORIGINAL GERMAN PRINTING (there were printings also in French and English). EXCELLENT, VERY FRESH CONDITION. WITH ORIGINAL DUSTJACKET. Otto Steinert is the most important protagonist of "Subjektive Fotografie". Otto Steinert's three exhibitions called "Subjektive Fotografie" are the most important ones in Germany in the time after the second world war. Otto Steinert's students include well-known photographers, photography teachers and curators such as Vicente del Amo, Monika von Boch, Harald Boockmann, Kilian Breier, Adolf Clemens, Erich vom Endt, Ute Eskildsen, André Gelpke, Arno Jansen, Bernd Jansen, Guido Mangold, Stephan Morgenstern, Harry S. Morgan, Detlef Orlopp, Timm Rautert, Dirk Reinartz, Heinrich Riebesehl and Michael Wolf. In 1953 Otto Steinert founded the important German post-war photo group "fotoform" (together with Wolfgang Reisewitz, Ludwig Windstoßer, Peter Keetman, Toni Schneiders and Siegfried Lauterwasser). Today, Otto Steinert is considered one of the most important and influential photographers in post-war Germany. This is a lot by 5Uhr30.com (Ecki Heuser, Cologne, Germany). 5Uhr30.com guarantees detailed and accurate descriptions, 100% protection, 100% insurance and combined shipping worldwide Otto Steinert’s view of Paris didn’t concern itself much with the people and their bustling businesses; in the city he saw structures, rhythms and the subtle play of light and shadows. Building facades lining the avenues tell the story of the Paris of that time, but the blurred people and vehicles moving against this backdrop look strange and fleetingly intangible. A series of multiple exposures and luminograms (object-less "light sketches"), which were created at the Place de la Concorde and elsewhere, show how Steinert’s interests ultimately concentrated on alienation and abstraction. This volume contains numerous previously unpublished photographs taken by Otto Steinert in Paris between 1948 and 1956. The collection impressively reveals the development of a genuine visual language: The most important protagonist of "subjective photography" intensely sought out shapes that went beyond illustrating reality. Famous for "Subjektive Fotografie" (Martin Parr, The Photobook). Steidl, Göttingen. 2008. First German edition, first printing. Hardcover with dust jacket. 225 x 265 mm. 104 pages. 55 tritone plates. Photos: Otto Steinert. Text in German. Condition: Book and dustjacket in very fresh and flawless condition with no marks and with no foxing; slightest trace of use, no remarkable flaws or defects. Overall very fine condition. Great photobook - in wonderful fresh condition.
