Italian school (XVII) - Deposition in the Tomb. 51 x 54 cm (unframed) - 57 x 60 cm (framed). Oil on canvas, in a lacquered and gilded wooden frame. The painting depicts the Entombment of Christ: the lifeless body of the Redeemer, wrapped in a shroud, is supported by two men as they lower it into the tomb. To the left, the Virgin witnesses the scene with joined hands, while a kneeling female figure kisses his feet. The composition unfolds against a rocky background with a cloudy sky, following a well-established model in Italian 17th-century devotional painting, with evident Flemish influence in the rendering of the flesh tones and the colouring of the garments. Condition report: Relined canvas.
